Show Description - August 9, 2013
Tonight's show was an extended 4-hour set, with the first half dedicated to new music and interviews and the second to a theme. I played interviews with Chris Jericho of Fozzy, who was talking about Sin and Bones and the upcoming tour with Saxon, and Kobi Farhi of Orphaned Land, who was promoting All Is One.
For the second half of the show, I decided to dedicate the time to looking back 25 years at the year 1988. When I listen to music, I don't necessarily associate with it a particular year or point in time, and so it was absolutely mind-blowing to see the things happening in the metal world at the time. It's just crazy to sit down and process the fact that Seventh Son, Keeper II, Kings of Metal, And Justice for All, and So Far, So Good...So What! were all being released in the same year. While there is certainly no shortage of quality metal releases in any given year nowadays, I somehow find it hard to imagine we'll be looking back at 2013 in 25 years and thinking the same thing.
